Impressive and beautiful visuals and overall solid gameplay, starts slowly, with your avatar chained to a flying rock but then builds up and soon you'll find yourself surrounded by mortal danger :DFeels already quite polished for an Early Access title and has a striking visual style that works very well with current generation VR screens. Ultimately highly recommended, thumbs up!. A Fly-Around Shooter With An Interesting Art Style. This is being played on an Oculus Rift, with an i7-8700\/16GB RAM\/1070Ti, on Single Player\/Campaign Mode. The first time I played this, in early 2018, it was on on-rail shooter with a a well-put together polygonal art-style (to myself, Roman-style influence). It was an okay experience; another rail shooter in a sea of them at the time; played for 30 minutes and walked away. Because of its art direction, I thought I would come back to it one day.Fast forward 8 months.Coming back to this game gave me an imaginary feeling, like what Captain America felt like after being defrosted, looking at the world, and wondering 'how in hades did gas prices get so high?'Run of Mydan, at least in single player, is an interesting, exciting experience. Thoughts on the following areas are as follows:CONTROLS: The flight controls remind me of the game 'Detached', in that hand\/arms movements dictate how you fly around (e.g., the further you stick your arms out in front of you, the faster you fly forward). If you stick only one arm out, you move more slowly. These controls make me feel more like Suoerman than the game 'Megaton Rainfall'. My primary gripe is that there seems to be no Smooth Turning option. Snap turning is very jarring\/abrupt to myself, and often an immersion breaker. I use Snap Tuning very sparingly, instead relying on 360 tracking. 360 tracking works very well, and I often find myself moving all over the place (occassionally into a wall).Being able to fly faster going down (compared to going up) would be cool.SHOOTING: Some sort of Laser Pointer would be welcome, as the default reticule basically forces you to have the controller in front of your face (which is realistc). Over time I've learned to estimate where I'll be shooting at because the default reticule makes me feel like I should be sniping. The Rifle\/machine gun choice I don't use because of the 7-second ramp-up time for a 4-second burst. The default guns are just easier to deal with. I haven't even tried the grenade yet. GAMEPLAY: In single-player, the enemies are either 'ariel drones', 'agreesive fish' or 'flying enemies with guns or arrows (I've only gotten to the 2nd level, I think (I have 7(?) portal gates I need to open, and can go underwater), and seem to respawn on a periodic basis. Not much in terms of variety, but the periodic respawning keeps me on my toes. With the 360 tracking, the enemies fly all around you, often forcing me to be physically on the move (I like that!).The basic level objectives seems to be destroying 'towers', collecting power-ups, fighting enemies, before pulling a 'Carol-Anne' (think the 1980s movie, Poltergeist: "Head towards the light') to exit the level. The size of the level is enormous (but not infinite; you will get a shimmering barrier wehn you go too far). So flying around gives you a wonderful sense of scale. SENSE OF ACCOMPLISHMENT: By the time you get to the end of a level, I felt like I covered a small part of a larger universe (not a bad thing). The story, if there is one (I really couldn't tell), does not make me feel like I've grown as a character, and am left with only a feeling of 'move along to the next level'. In terms of moving around in a virtual world, there is a huge sense of accomplishment.ART DESIGN: Absolutely like it! It doesn't concern itself with photo-realism., but goes after a polygonal, sparsely populated world, that alllowed me to enjoy what i was doing, rather than fret about 'looks like a game from the Atari Jaguar'. The sparse design approach often inspires me to 'fill in the blanks' about what a more fully-fleshed out version of the world might looks like.Bottom Line: After an 8-month sabbatical from a game I wasn't sure I would return to, I find myself with a mission to get through the single-player game at least. Nicely done, developers.. This game was super awesome to play, after a little bit of a learning curve. The first part where you are stuck on the platform was annoying, but once you break free, flying through the sky at your whim is amazing! The weapons can definitely use improvement, and right now there isn't enough content to be worth paying for in my eyes, but when they produce more content, I'm sure this will be a great grab for VR users!. I'm not sure how I feel about Run of Mydan VR. It has decent graphics and the environment is original and cool, but the gameplay is either too difficult for me or the learning curve is high. I think more time spent on this game would make it a bit easier but there is a lot going on. You must dodge, shield, and attack enemies all at once or you may die! I got this game on sale for $12.99 USD as the usual price is 19.99. I don't think it's worth it, for me, at either price. Here is a video of gameplay:https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=BNBwLIDpUxQ&feature=youtu.be. Nice game! The free fly in start menu its AMAZING! Wish to get some changes for touches, after update i change my opinion about the game and i will recomend it for now. Thank you for developers its very cool when some of devs hear you and make some changes.Youll need bigger area to play more comfortable.UPD: Very impressive! Nice Updates! Now its more easy to start to play! Thank you! Great game so far!. The game is very promising! It features a challenging singleplayer campaign and a solid multiplayer. I love the whole flying thing, it's hard at first, bit it just takes a bit of practice. You need to use your entire body to fly well. Overall, this game is probably the one that makes me sweat the most... You constantly need to move!Unfortunately, it is very hard to find people online at the moment.. if you have an oculus or a vive this is a must have game !!graphic is awesome and the gameplay smooth and fasti've tryed also the multiplayer and it's fantastic !!! 1v1 arena against your friends can't wait to see the Capture the flag mode , maybe the best versus VR game experience i've treyed so far!just move like IRONMAN , switch to different weapons , shild yourself and destroy your opponent!!total immersion !. Okay its a good on-rails shooter with the ability to move left and right to dodge enemy fire and obsticles. There are parts where the game gives you the ability of free flight to get past an enemy \/ bossThere is a seperate multi-player arena with free flight ability available. What I did like about the single player part was the sense of going up as the world curves up but even better was the sense of falling when the world doubled back on it\u2019s self.I did not want an on-rails shooter.I did not like the multi-player arena. This game was just not for me.. Very artistic VR game but the online arena is always empty,.. I'm only reviewing the single player experience. I did not mess around with the multiplayer and honestly, not many games in VR will succeed with PvP, in fact, only very few will given the low player base to begin with. So don't buy this game for the PvP experience unless you have a friend with VR.So I did not understand what people were talking about when they were reviewing this game. Some talk about an on-rails experience and others are talking about flying around. What gives? Well, the answer is that neither description is accurate. You don't really have free movement because you're chained to a platform. You can select different movement options, but the normal movement option is to move your hands to where you want to go and press grip. So you can move freely at times. However, you cannot always freely move. It just depends on the location. So while you're usually constantly moving forward, you can move from side to side. And there are times where you will stop movement all together. And there will be times where your movement will be predetermined. Regardless, you will be using different tactics depending on the circumstances. You can be shooting with a gun like attachment on your hands. Or you can be throwing a powerful ball at your enemies (seriously). Or you can use your shields. And of course, you can move around your platform to dodge, duck, side step enemy attacks. Many of the environments are destructible. Enemies can get behind you. Basically, you're controlling a lot of different variables making sure you get rid of the biggest threats and avoid damage as much as possible. This game is fun. I think the whole chained to a platform is an interesting mechanic on how to deal with the problems inherent in VR. It definitely feels different than most other VR titles. You do have to think on your feet or die enough times to figure out how you're supposed to tackle the problems presented. This is more about strategy and attention to detail, than about quick reflexes or twitch aiming. Sale Price Rating 7\/10 ($9.99) ... Normal Price Rating 6\/10
